Is there any similarity between the top 7 Linda Mwananchi Principals and the 7 bearded sisters of the moi regime ?

Vipasho News brings to the fore the comparison  which highlights the connection between the "Seven Bearded Sisters" (often referred to as five or seven radical MPs) of the Daniel arap Moi era and the contemporary Linda Mwananchi movement.

The critical similarities between these two political formations include  Direct Generational and Ideological Lineage pointing to the profound familial and political link between the two eras.

Siaya Governor James Orengo who was one of the core members of the original "Bearded Sisters" in the 1980s is still here in 2026  as a primary guide and senior leader for the Linda Mwananchi faction.

He is joined by the late Lawrence Sifuna's nephew , Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna with the bloodline of the  "Bearded Sisters".

The defacto leader and face of the Linda Mwananchi team, consciously carrying on his uncle’s anti-establishment struggle received backing from Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya who dropped his Presidential ambition in favour of the Senator.

Embakasi East  MP Babu Owino, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Otsotsi, his Kakamega Counterpart, Bull fighter Dr. Bonnie Khalwale, Bumula MP Jack Wamboka and Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga have formed a fierce anti-establishment Stance.

Both the 7 bearded Sisters and their Contemporaries including the fiery Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, Clive Gisairo, Kitutu Chache MP Anthony Gibagendi, Katitu MP Joshua Kimilu, former LSK President Faith Odhiambo and Pauline Njoroge the fast growing Linda Mwananchi revolve  around  the  formation purposed to aggressively challenge the ruling executive's excessive powers.

Other big additions to the Linda Mwananchi Movement is Former Meru Governor Her Excellency Kawira Mwangaza, former CS Raphael Tuju and former CS Aisha Jumwa Katana  has officially joined the movement who was received to the outfit by Governor James Orengo  .

The wave keeps growing and the momentum shows no signs of slowing down.

Educationist Martin Kisiang'any who is the latest entrant in the Saboti Parliamentary race said that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's statement that he is ready to deputize Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna signals a strategic shift toward a cross-regional, unified opposition front aimed at dismantling President William Ruto's 2027 re-election matrix.

He said that the statement was a big strategy to break the incumbent's tribal narrative.

"Gachagua’s willingness to back or deputize a youthful leader from outside his core Mt. Kenya base undercuts the Kenya Kwanza administration's narrative that Gachagua is confined to regional or ethnic mobilization", Dr. Kisiang'any said adding that by  publicly validating Sifuna as a serious presidential contender, the former Powerful Deputy President is actively working to pool regional and generational appeal combining Mt. Kenya discontent with urban and Western Kenya anti-establishment energy into a single focal point against President Ruto.

Former Sitatunga ward representative Dr Daniel Kaburu noted that this fluid stance forces other opposition principals including Dr. Kalonzo Musyoka, Dr. Fred Matiang'i, Eugene Wamalwa, Martha Karua and Justine Muturi to accelerate coalition negotiations and proves that Gachagua is prioritizing electoral arithmetic and raw numbers over rigid personal ambitions for the top seat.

"The Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has opened the door to an unlikely political alliance between Mt Kenya and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna. Other politicians should accept that and start preparing for Ruto's exit", he said.

Kaburu who has declared interest in the Sitatunga seat he lost narrowly during the 2022 elections challenged politicians to remain selfless and avoid tribal narratives and instead put Kenya a head of their own desires.
