𝗞𝗜𝗦𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗥 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗦 𝗔𝗧 𝗞𝗣𝗘𝗘𝗟 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗦

Dr Norman Kiogora, Director, Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE), addressed participants during the Training of Trainers under the World Bank-supported Kenya Primary Education Equity in Learning (KPEEL) Project.

Speaking during the training, Dr Kiogora noted that the trained trainers will cascade the knowledge and skills acquired to over 4,800 teachers through online training, strengthening early identification and support for learners with disabilities.

He further noted that the trained personnel are expected to support the operationalisation of the Regional Education Assessment and Resource Centres (EARCs), which are expected to be operational from January 2027.

As KISE advances the establishment of the National Assistive Devices Factory, Dr Kiogora emphasised that the training will go beyond assessment. Participants will also gain skills in repairing assistive devices, helping ensure learners can access and continue using essential support.

He urged the trainers to take the knowledge and skills gained with utmost care as KISE walks this journey with them, and thanked the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) for facilitating teachers to participate in the training.
