UASIN GISHU COUNTY ROLLS OUT AMRS TO DIGITIZE HEALTHCARE SERVICES

Uasin Gishu County has stepped up efforts to digitize healthcare services with the rollout of the AMPATH Medical Records System (AMRS), aimed at strengthening patient information management and improving the quality and efficiency of service delivery across health facilities.

As part of the rollout, health workers from Kesses Sub-County underwent comprehensive training on the use of the digital platform, equipping them with the skills required to effectively capture, manage and retrieve patient information while supporting data-driven healthcare delivery.

The AMRS platform is expected to improve data accuracy, patient tracking and access to medical records, while enhancing referral coordination and enabling healthcare workers to make timely and informed decisions.

 The system will also reduce reliance on manual records, contributing to more efficient and accountable health service delivery.

Speaking during the training, Chief Officer for Preventive and Promotive Health, Dr. Billy Lubanga, emphasized the importance of adhering to the implementation timelines and assured health workers of continued support from the County Government through regular supervision.

“We need to know the timelines, and we will be keen on supporting the implementation through supervision,” said Dr. Lubanga.

Dr. Lubanga further announced that all client services will be conducted through the AMRS platform as the County accelerates implementation of its digital health agenda.

The training brought together the County Health Management Team, Kesses Sub-County health facilities, the Sub-County Health Records and Information Office, and the AMPATH Monitoring and Evaluation team, whose collaboration is expected to facilitate a smooth rollout and ensure effective adoption of the system across health facilities.

The session was attended by senior health officials, including Dr. Evans Kiprotich, Director of Medical Services; Betty Chirchir, Director of Nursing Services; Crispus Massam, Deputy Director of Medical Services; and Silas Kosgei, Assistant Director for Health Records and Information Management.
