Turbo Champions Honoured After Stellar Performance at East Africa Secondary School Games

 Uasin Gishu County has celebrated a group of young athletes from Turbo Sub-County following their impressive performance at the Federation of East Africa Secondary School Sports Association Games held in Tanzania.

The champions were received at the Uasin Gishu County Headquarters by Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim, alongside county officials, where their achievements were recognised as a source of pride for the county and the wider region.

Speaking during the reception, Uasin Gishu Chief of Staff Dr Pius Chumba congratulated the students for representing the county with distinction and showcasing their talent on the regional stage.

Among the outstanding performers was Soin Junior School, which secured the Gold Medal in Girls’ Volleyball, demonstrating strong teamwork and determination throughout the competition.

Chepsaita Senior School also delivered an impressive performance, taking home the Silver Medal in Boys’ Volleyball after a competitive campaign against some of the best school teams in the region.

In athletics, students from St. Jacobs and Samoei Model School emerged as Gold Medal winners, further underlining the depth of sporting talent emerging from Turbo Sub-County.

Dr Chumba said the achievements were a demonstration of the potential among young people in Uasin Gishu and called for continued investment in sports and talent development.

The recognition of the students comes as the county continues to promote sports as an important avenue for youth empowerment, discipline, community cohesion and career development.

Governor Bii and county leadership congratulated the students, their coaches, teachers and parents for the dedication that contributed to the teams' success.

The champions' performance in Tanzania has further placed Turbo Sub-County on the regional sporting map, with their achievements expected to inspire more learners to pursue excellence both in academics and extracurricular activities.

The county government is expected to continue supporting young athletes by creating opportunities for training, competition and talent development across Uasin Gishu.
