Ruto Says 2027 General Election Will Be “Decisive and Consequential”

 President William Ruto has described next year’s General Election as “decisive and consequential,” pledging to champion a new political approach centred on unity, inclusion and national transformation.

Speaking after hosting Iteso grassroots leaders at State Lodge in Eldoret, President Ruto said Kenya must move away from what he termed the politics of division, fragmentation and marginalisation.

“We will bring to an end the stale politics of division, fragmentation and marginalisation, and usher in a new politics of unity, inclusion and transformation—one that leaves no community and no part of Kenya behind,” Ruto said.

The President’s remarks came during a meeting with leaders from the Iteso community, where he was installed as an elder of the Iteso community by His Royal Highness Papa Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot Etomeileng III.

During the ceremony, Ruto was bestowed with the name Ojokotau, marking his formal recognition within the Iteso community.

The event brought together grassroots leaders as the President continued to engage communities ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Ruto said his administration’s political agenda would focus on building a more united and inclusive Kenya, with development and opportunities reaching all communities and regions.

The President’s declaration comes as political parties and leaders begin positioning themselves for the 2027 contest, which is expected to be a major test of Kenya’s political alliances and competing visions for the country.

His emphasis on unity and inclusion is likely to feature prominently in the political debate as the country moves closer to the election.
