Mwea MP Mary Maingi Applauds Wang’uru Teachers for Investing in Community Welfare

Mwea MP Mary Maingi has lauded the Wang’uru Teachers Welfare Group for embracing teamwork and investing in a project aimed at strengthening their welfare while creating a valuable asset for the wider community.

Maingi made the remarks yesterday evening when she joined members of the Wang’uru Teachers Welfare Group for the official opening of the Beyond Horizon Project.

The legislator said she was encouraged by the teachers’ decision to come together and invest in a project that will not only serve the community but also provide the group with a sustainable source of income to support its welfare initiatives.

At the centre of the project is a newly constructed hall that will be available for hire by members of the community. Proceeds generated from the facility will be channelled towards supporting the welfare programmes of the teachers’ group.

Maingi described the initiative as a shining example of what can be achieved when members of a community unite around a common vision and make strategic investments for their collective benefit.

She said such projects demonstrate the importance of investing in assets that can continue generating value long after their completion, while simultaneously responding to the needs of the surrounding community.

“This is the kind of vision and collective effort that strengthens our communities; coming together, investing wisely, and creating assets that continue to serve us for years to come,” Maingi said.

The MP congratulated the Wang’uru Teachers Welfare Group for reaching the milestone, praising the members for their foresight, commitment and determination to build a sustainable future for themselves and the community.

She wished the group continued success as it moves into the next phase of the project, expressing confidence that the facility will become an important community resource while contributing significantly to the welfare of its members.

The Beyond Horizon Project reflects the growing role of welfare groups and community organisations in driving grassroots development through collective savings, investment and ownership of income-generating assets.
