Murkomen: Ruto Government on Track as Broad-Based Alliance Vows to Transform Kenya

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has defended the performance of President William Ruto’s administration, saying the Broad-Based Government is firmly on course to deliver its economic transformation agenda and position Kenya among the world’s leading economies.

Murkomen said the government had made progress in stabilising the economy while implementing projects and reforms aimed at improving the lives of Kenyans.

According to the Interior CS, stalled projects have been revived, while new investments in roads, modern markets and affordable housing have been rolled out across the country.

“The Broad-Based Government is firmly on course to deliver on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda and position Kenya among the world’s leading economies,” Murkomen said.

He attributed what he described as economic progress to the leadership of President William Ruto, saying the country’s economy was now on a steady growth path.

Murkomen also pointed to reforms in health, education and agriculture, arguing that the measures were designed to improve service delivery and enhance the wellbeing of Kenyans.

Security Reforms

On security, Murkomen said the government had confronted threats including terrorism, banditry and criminal gangs, while implementing reforms aimed at transforming the National Police Service into a more professional and citizen-centred institution.

He said security remained a key pillar in creating an environment conducive to economic growth and development.

Murkomen made the remarks in Naivasha, Nakuru County, where he joined President Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, ODM leader Dr Oburu Oginga and other leaders for a working retreat of the Broad-Based Coalition.

The meeting brought together leaders from different political formations as the government continues to pursue the Broad-Based Government arrangement.

Murkomen commended the leaders for what he described as putting national interests above individual and political considerations.

He said their commitment to working together would help build what he termed a prosperous and united Kenya.

The remarks come as the country moves closer to the 2027 General Election, with the government seeking to highlight its development record while opposition leaders intensify calls for political change.

The competing narratives are expected to shape the political debate in the run-up to the election, with the Ruto administration likely to campaign on its economic and development record and its opponents seeking to convince voters that a change in leadership is necessary.

For Murkomen, however, the message from Naivasha was clear: the Broad-Based Government remains committed to completing its agenda and keeping Kenya on what he described as a path towards greater economic prosperity.
