Ledama Olekina Warns Kenyans: ‘Politicians Are Playing With Your Minds While They Massage Their Egos’

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has criticised Kenya’s political class, accusing politicians of fueling endless political campaigns and distractions at the expense of ordinary citizens struggling to improve their livelihoods.

Olekina said the widening gap between the rich and poor was being worsened by a political culture that keeps Kenyans constantly engaged in campaigns, insults and political confrontations.

The senator argued that ordinary Kenyans are increasingly being denied the opportunity to focus on their businesses and economic activities as politicians dominate public spaces with political rallies and convoys, particularly during weekends.

He said the frequent political activities interfere with movement, congest roads and create an environment where citizens are unable to concentrate on making a living.

Olekina also criticised the use of large political convoys, saying they occupy roads that are maintained using taxpayers’ money while ordinary motorists are left struggling with traffic congestion.

He urged Kenyans to wake up and question the political distractions dominating the country, warning that politicians were benefiting from the constant political noise while ordinary citizens continued facing economic hardships.

The Narok senator called for greater focus on issues affecting the livelihoods of Kenyans, including economic opportunities, businesses and efforts to bridge the growing gap between the wealthy and the poor.

His remarks come amid heightened political activities across the country as politicians intensify mobilisation and public engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Olekina maintained that Kenyans should not allow political competition and personal ambitions among leaders to distract them from demanding better economic opportunities and improved living standards.
