Jubilee Summons Mt Kenya Aspirants as Matiang’i Plots 2027 Comeback
Jubilee Party has summoned its Mt Kenya aspirants for a strategic meeting with the party’s 2027 presidential flagbearer Dr Fred Matiang’i as it moves to strengthen its political structures ahead of the next General Election.
Jubilee Secretary-General Moitalel Ole Kenta has invited aspirants from across the Mt Kenya region to the meeting scheduled for Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the Jumuia Conference Centre in Limuru.
The meeting will run from 8am to 1pm and is expected to bring together aspirants seeking Jubilee nominations for various elective positions alongside senior party officials.
According to the organisers, the engagement will provide an opportunity for the party to assess the strength of its grassroots structures, interact with potential candidates and develop strategies for rebuilding Jubilee’s political influence in the region.
Matiang’i’s participation is expected to give the meeting added political significance as Jubilee seeks to position itself for the 2027 elections and regain ground in the Mt Kenya region.
The party is also expected to discuss candidate mobilisation, grassroots coordination and ways of strengthening its presence ahead of the nomination and election campaigns.
The meeting comes at a time when political parties are intensifying efforts to consolidate support networks, recruit candidates and expand their grassroots operations ahead of the 2027 polls.
Mt Kenya remains a critical political battleground, with various parties and political formations seeking to establish strong support networks in the region.
Jubilee’s renewed focus on the area comes amid efforts by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Democratic Congress Party (DCP) to consolidate political support and build a strong regional base.
The Limuru meeting is therefore expected to offer Jubilee an opportunity to assess its competitiveness and chart a strategy for reclaiming political space in a region where the party previously enjoyed significant influence.
The engagement with aspirants will also allow party officials to identify challenges facing grassroots mobilisation and establish a coordinated approach towards the 2027 elections.
