HON. JAYNE KIHARA CHAMPIONS WOMEN AND YOUTH AS PILLARS OF KENYA'S DEMOCRATIC FUTURE

Naivasha Member of Parliament Hon. Jayne Kihara has once again demonstrated her unwavering commitment to strengthening Kenya's democracy by championing civic education and inclusive leadership among women and young people. Widely admired for her fearless advocacy and people-centred leadership, Hon. Kihara continues to inspire a new generation of citizens to actively participate in shaping the country's democratic future.

Leading a civic engagement forum convened by the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) with support from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), Hon. Kihara brought together women and youth for meaningful discussions on election preparedness, the legal framework governing elections and the vital role of public participation in strengthening democratic governance.

Recognizing that democracy flourishes when citizens are informed and empowered, Hon. Kihara encouraged participants to embrace leadership, civic responsibility and peaceful participation in the electoral process. The forum explored women's and youth leadership, community advocacy, opportunities for political participation and practical strategies for enhancing electoral preparedness.

Participants also held candid discussions on gender-based violence, electoral violence and technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV), emphasizing the importance of creating safe, inclusive and respectful political spaces where women and young people can contribute without fear or intimidation.

Through interactive discussions and group engagements, participants identified practical measures to strengthen civic awareness, promote peaceful elections and cultivate inclusive leadership within their communities.

Hon. Jayne Kihara's steadfast dedication to empowering women and young people continues to distinguish her as one of Kenya's most influential champions of democratic inclusion. Her belief that every voice matters and every citizen deserves an opportunity to participate in governance reflects a leadership style rooted in service, courage and accountability.

As Kenya continues to strengthen its democratic institutions, leaders like Hon. Jayne Kihara remain instrumental in nurturing an informed, engaged and resilient citizenry. Her efforts through civic education and leadership development are helping build a future where women and young people are not merely participants in democracy, but confident leaders shaping the nation's destiny.
