“Children Went Home Happy”: Teacher Cillah Emotional After George Ruto’s Visit to Westlands Primary

 Teacher Cillah, popularly known as Priscilla Wanjiku Karanja, has expressed deep gratitude to George Ruto after the President’s son visited her workplace, Westlands Primary School, in Nairobi.

The visit, which came after weeks of viral social-media exchanges between the teacher and George, turned into a memorable day for the school’s learners, with pupils getting an opportunity to interact with him, enjoy entertainment and receive a pledge of support for learning and sports equipment. (

Taking to social media after the visit, an emotional Teacher Cillah said the happiness of the children was the biggest highlight of her day.

“I have no words that can describe how I feel 🥹🥹… Today was such a good day at work… children went home happy that makes me happy too… George Ruto these children will never forget you… you are such a blessing… Thank you so much.”

Her message reflected a shift from the playful online exchanges that had made the pair a trending topic in Kenya to a school-focused encounter centred on children and education.

George arrived at Westlands Primary accompanied by his Pace Setter Magazine team and members of the Mood matatu crew. His arrival generated excitement among learners and teachers, with pupils gathering to welcome him. 

During the visit, George toured the school, interacted with pupils and joined Teacher Cillah’s Grade Three class, where he took part in a multiplication lesson. Learners also presented drawings inspired by the Mood matatu, which had been brought to the school. 

The school later hosted an entertainment session featuring music, dancing and student talent performances. George and Teacher Cillah joined the learners in dancing, creating one of the most widely shared moments from the visit. 

George also planted a tree at the school and indicated that he intended to support the institution with educational resources and sports equipment. Another report said he was willing to collaborate with Teacher Cillah in supporting learners with special educational needs. 

The visit followed weeks of online banter after Teacher Cillah publicly expressed interest in George. The exchanges attracted significant attention on social media, with George at one point responding to her by asking for her TSC registration number. 

However, during the school visit, George sought to clarify speculation surrounding their relationship. According to reports, he said he already has a wife, effectively putting to rest the romantic speculation that had accompanied their online exchanges. 

For Teacher Cillah, however, the most important outcome appeared to be the happiness of her pupils.

Her emotional message placed the spotlight on the learners who spent the day interacting with George and enjoying an experience she believes they will remember for years.

The encounter has since continued to generate widespread reactions online, with many Kenyans focusing less on the earlier romantic jokes and more on the memorable experience created for the children at Westlands Primary School.
