Sudi Breaks Silence After UDA's Ol Kalou Defeat, Congratulates DCP Winner and Calls for Unity
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has broken his silence following the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party's loss in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, congratulating the victorious Democratic Congress Party (DCP) candidate while urging residents to embrace unity and move forward.
In a statement released after the declaration of the results, Sudi congratulated DCP's Sammy Kamau Waweru for emerging victorious in the hotly contested by-election.
"I want to congratulate Hon. Sammy Kamau Waweru of DCP party for winning the Ol Kalou by-election. Thumbs up also to Samuel Muchinah Nyagah for a well-fought race. I was on the ground, and I respect the decision made by the people of Ol Kalou," Sudi said.
The outspoken MP, a close ally of President William Ruto, emphasized that the outcome of the election should be respected, noting that the will of the people had prevailed.
Sudi also sought to reassure residents of the Mt. Kenya region, popularly referred to as Murima, that they remain an integral part of President Ruto's administration despite the by-election outcome.
"This administration of President William Ruto was formed by the people of Murima, and they are still part of this Government. Now, my people, let us move forward," he added.
The Ol Kalou by-election had attracted significant political attention, with senior leaders from both the ruling UDA party and the opposition campaigning aggressively in the constituency. Sudi was among the national leaders who actively campaigned for the UDA candidate ahead of the vote.
The victory by DCP's Sammy Kamau Waweru is expected to reshape the political landscape in Nyandarua County and has already sparked debate over the changing political dynamics in the Mt. Kenya region as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
