PS Roseline Njogu and Kenya Tourism Board Forge Partnership to Reconnect Diaspora Youth with Their Roots

Principal Secretary for the State Department for Diaspora Affairs Roseline Njogu has intensified efforts to strengthen ties between Kenya and its global Diaspora by spearheading discussions on innovative programmes that will reconnect young Kenyans abroad with their heritage while promoting tourism and national development.

The PS held a consultative meeting with a delegation from the Kenya Tourism Board (KTB), led by Chief Executive Officer June Chepkemei, to explore collaborative initiatives centred on cultural immersion, heritage tourism and innovation.

The leaders discussed a range of transformative programme proposals aimed at giving Diaspora youth authentic Kenyan experiences. These include immersive homestays with local families, heritage tourism circuits showcasing the country's rich history and culture, peer-to-peer skills and technology exchange programmes, and interactive summer camps designed to foster a stronger sense of identity and belonging.

The proposed partnership reflects the government's growing commitment to harnessing the immense potential of the Kenyan Diaspora by creating meaningful opportunities for young people to reconnect with their roots while contributing their knowledge, expertise and innovation to the country's socio-economic transformation.

PS Njogu noted that empowering Diaspora youth to engage with Kenya's culture, people and development agenda will not only strengthen national identity but also position them as ambassadors of Kenyan tourism, investment and innovation across the world. The collaboration with the Kenya Tourism Board is expected to open new avenues for cultural exchange, deepen Diaspora engagement and showcase Kenya as a premier destination for heritage tourism and meaningful global connections.
