Murkomen Warns Gachagua Over Alleged Militia Recruitment, Vows Tough Action on Criminal Gangs

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has issued a stern warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over alleged recruitment of militia groups, declaring that the government will take firm action against all organized criminal elements regardless of their political affiliations.

Speaking during a security assessment tour in Tiaty, Baringo County, Murkomen said the Kenya Kwanza administration remains committed to protecting the country's peace and stability, warning that no individual will be allowed to endanger national security under the guise of politics.

The Interior CS emphasized that President William Ruto's government will not tolerate what he described as political hypocrisy or attempts to mislead Kenyans while allegedly sponsoring criminal activities.

Murkomen maintained that security agencies have been instructed to pursue all criminal gangs and militia groups without fear or favor, insisting that the law will apply equally to every Kenyan irrespective of political status or influence.

"The government will decisively deal with all organized criminal elements. No one is above the law, and we will not allow criminal gangs to threaten the safety and security of our people," he said.

During the visit, Murkomen also launched the new Kolowa Sub-County, saying the move will enhance government services and strengthen security operations in the region, which has in the past experienced insecurity linked to banditry and cattle rustling.

He noted that the creation of the sub-county is expected to bring security services closer to residents and improve coordination among government agencies in addressing emerging security threats.

Murkomen was accompanied by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, East African Community, ASALs and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul, as well as senior security officials and local leaders.

The leaders reaffirmed the government's commitment to restoring lasting peace in the North Rift and urged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies in the fight against crime and banditry.

The remarks come amid heightened political tensions, with the government insisting it will not compromise on matters touching on national security and public safety.
