Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule to Officiate 2026 Usawa Awards

Kilifi Deputy Governor Flora Mbetsa Chibule  has reaffirmed the county's unwavering commitment to advancing gender equality, inclusion and social justice after receiving a courtesy call from officials of the National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), led by Chairperson Hon. Rehema Dida Jaldesa.

During the meeting, the NGEC delegation formally invited the Deputy Governor to officiate the **2026 Usawa Awards**, scheduled for **Tuesday, 28th July 2026**. The prestigious awards will recognize institutions that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusion and non-discrimination, while also marking the launch of key NGEC publications, including the **Gender Mainstreaming in the Public Sector Report 2024/2025**.

Deputy Governor Chibule commended NGEC for its steadfast leadership in championing equal opportunities and inclusive development across Kenya. She reiterated that the Kilifi County Government remains committed to mainstreaming gender-responsive governance, strengthening policies that protect vulnerable groups and fostering strategic partnerships that ensure women, persons with disabilities, marginalized communities and all citizens enjoy equal opportunities to participate in and benefit from development.

She expressed her appreciation for the invitation and said she looks forward to joining leaders and stakeholders from across the country in celebrating institutions that are setting the benchmark for equality and inclusion. The Deputy Governor noted that the awards provide an important platform to reaffirm the collective commitment to building a just, equitable and inclusive society where no one is left behind, in line with Kilifi County's vision of sustainable and people-centred development.
