Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has expressed gratitude to residents of Trans Nzoia after receiving a rousing welcome during the Linda Mwananchi Movement rally in Kitale, describing the reception as overwhelming.

Addressing thousands of supporters who turned up for the rally, Sifuna said he had not anticipated such a large and enthusiastic turnout.

"I'm overwhelmed by the love. Thank you, Trans Nzoia," the ODM Secretary-General told the crowd, saying the reception had taken him by surprise and reflected the growing desire among Kenyans for political change. 

The rally brought together several opposition leaders under the Linda Mwananchi banner, including Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and other allied leaders, as they intensified their nationwide campaign ahead of the 2027 General Election. 

Supporters lined major roads into Kitale, waving flags and cheering as the leaders' convoy made its way into the town before converging at Mwangaza Grounds for the rally. The event was marked by songs, chants and calls for unity among opposition supporters. 

During his address, Sifuna said the overwhelming reception demonstrated that many Kenyans were eager for a united political movement focused on accountability, good governance and addressing the high cost of living. He noted that the spontaneous support from residents reinforced the movement's resolve to continue engaging citizens across the country. 

The Kitale meeting is part of a series of regional rallies being conducted by the Linda Mwananchi Movement as it seeks to consolidate support in different parts of the country. Western Kenya has emerged as a key battleground, with opposition leaders working to strengthen their influence ahead of the next electoral cycle.
