Contractors Have Until July 31 to Renew NCA Practising Licences

Thousands of contractors across Kenya have until July 31, 2026 to renew their annual practising licences or risk missing out on new construction opportunities during the 2026/2027 financial year.

In a public notice issued on July 14, the National Construction Authority (NCA) reminded contractors that the annual licence renewal exercise, which began on July 1, will close at the end of the month.

The Authority further advised contractors who did not undertake Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training during the 2025/2026 financial year that they must first earn at least **10 CPD points** by attending an NCA or NCA-accredited seminar before renewing their licences. The requirement is mandatory under Regulation 14 of the National Construction Authority Regulations, 2014.

The annual renewal process remains a key regulatory measure under the National Construction Authority Act, 2011, aimed at ensuring contractors maintain professional competence and comply with industry standards before undertaking construction projects.

The reminder comes as the Authority intensifies nationwide enforcement against illegal and unsafe construction, amid growing concerns over unapproved developments and projects undertaken by unqualified individuals.
