𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐈𝐧 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐀 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐨 𝐍𝐠’𝐢𝐫𝐨 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐞

 



The signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between WaterFund and the County Governments of Laikipia, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Meru and Isiolo marked a significant step towards coordinated and sustainable management of the Ewaso Ng'iro Basin.


The agreements provide a structured partnership framework that will guide the implementation of the Ewaso Ng'iro Basin Water and Climate Resilience Programme (EWCP) through strengthened collaboration between the National Government, County Governments, Water Resources Users Associations (WRUAs), Community Forest Associations (CFAs), Community Conservancies and other stakeholders.


The MoUs will support:

 𝟷. 𝚂𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚐𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚍 𝙸𝚗𝚝𝚎𝚐𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚍 𝚆𝚊𝚝𝚎𝚛 𝚁𝚎𝚜𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚌𝚎𝚜 𝙼𝚊𝚗𝚊𝚐𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝 (𝙸𝚆𝚁𝙼) 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗.

 𝟸. 𝚁𝚎𝚑𝚊𝚋𝚒𝚕𝚒𝚝𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚘𝚏 𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚝𝚜, 𝚞𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚛 𝚌𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝𝚜, 𝚠𝚎𝚝𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚜, 𝚛𝚒𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚊𝚗 𝚊𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚛𝚊𝚗𝚐𝚎𝚕𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚜 𝚝𝚑𝚛𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑 𝙽𝚊𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚎-𝚋𝚊𝚜𝚎𝚍 𝚂𝚘𝚕𝚞𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜. 

𝟹. 𝙲𝚊𝚙𝚊𝚌𝚒𝚝𝚢 𝚋𝚞𝚒𝚕𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚌𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚎𝚜 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚖𝚞𝚗𝚒𝚝𝚢 𝚒𝚗𝚜𝚝𝚒𝚝𝚞𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚜 𝚝𝚘 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚖𝚘𝚝𝚎 𝚜𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎 𝚗𝚊𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚊𝚕 𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚌𝚎 𝚖𝚊𝚗𝚊𝚐𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚝.
