NEMA Leadership Strengthening Kenya’s Climate Action Ahead of Desertification and Drought Day
The Director General of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), Dr. Mamo B. Mamo, EBS, together with the NEMA Board of Management led by Chairman Emilio Mugo, continues to demonstrate strong leadership in advancing Kenya’s environmental sustainability agenda.
In preparation for the global observance of Desertification and Drought Day held at Vipingo Central Primary School, the NEMA delegation paid a courtesy call to the Coast Regional Commissioner, Mr. Paul Rotich, to enhance coordination and readiness for the national event.
The Board also engaged with Kilifi Deputy Governor H.E. Flora M. Chibule on strategies to strengthen collaboration between national and county governments in rangelands management and climate resilience.
As part of their commitment to community impact, the team visited Msumarini Primary School in Kilifi County, where they donated water tanks and planted tree seedlings—reinforcing practical action in environmental conservation and sustainability.
Through such initiatives, Dr. Mamo B. Mamo’s leadership continues to position NEMA at the forefront of climate action, ecosystem restoration, and community-driven environmental stewardship in Kenya.
