Murkomen Champions Children's Spiritual Growth as AIC Lang’ata Unveils New Sunday School Block
Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kipchumba Murkomen, on Sunday joined worshippers at the Africa Inland Church (AIC) Lang’ata Local Church for a special service marked by the dedication of a newly constructed Sunday School block aimed at nurturing the next generation in faith.
Drawing inspiration from the biblical verse Matthew 19:14, where Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these,” Murkomen emphasized the importance of investing in children's spiritual development and moral upbringing.
The Interior CS described the Sunday School ministry as a critical foundation for shaping responsible, God-fearing citizens, noting that the lessons children learn in church often guide them throughout their lives.
“This new Sunday School block is more than a building. It is a place where values, character, and faith will be nurtured in our children for generations to come,” Murkomen said.
The service was led by AIC Nairobi Area Bishop, Joshua Kimuyu, who delivered a powerful sermon from Psalms 78. He challenged parents and guardians to lead by example, reminding congregants that children learn faith not only through teaching but also through observing the lives of adults around them.
“We must live the faith we profess so that our children can learn from us and pass it on to future generations,” Bishop Kimuyu urged.
The event brought together several senior government officials, including Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture and Children Services, Hannah Cheptumo, National Security Advisor Joseph Boinett, and High Court Judge Grace Nzioka.
The dedication ceremony underscored the growing partnership between faith institutions and government leaders in promoting family values, child welfare, and moral leadership at a time when many communities are seeking stronger foundations for the younger generation.
As families gathered in prayer and celebration, the message was clear: investing in children today is investing in the future of the nation.
