Mbadi Hails Gor Mahia as K’Ogalo Present Historic 22nd League Trophy After Record-Breaking Triumph

Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, John Mbadi, joined the celebrations of Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia after the club presented its 2025/26 Kenya Premier League trophy following a historic title-winning campaign.

The trophy presentation comes after K’Ogalo clinched a record-extending 22nd league crown, further cementing their status as the most successful football club in Kenyan history. The achievement was officially confirmed after a dominant season that saw the club finish at the summit of the league standings and secure qualification for the CAF Champions League. 

During the occasion, Mbadi congratulated the club's leadership, technical bench, players and supporters for another remarkable chapter in Gor Mahia's illustrious history. The Treasury CS praised the team's consistency and contribution to the growth of Kenyan football, noting that the club's success continues to inspire generations of young footballers across the country.

The latest title has attracted widespread recognition both locally and internationally. President William Ruto hailed the club's resilience and discipline throughout the season, while FIFA President Gianni Infantino also sent a congratulatory message recognizing Gor Mahia's achievement. 

Mbadi recently expressed support for the club receiving national recognition, arguing that Gor Mahia's unmatched record and influence in East African football deserve acknowledgment at the highest levels. 

The Green Army's latest triumph marks a successful return to the summit after reclaiming the title from Kenya Police FC. The club finished the season ahead of rivals AFC Leopards and will now turn its attention to representing Kenya on the continental stage. 

As celebrations continue among thousands of supporters, the presentation of the trophy to senior government leaders symbolizes the significance of the achievement not only for the club but also for Kenyan football as a whole.
