Former MP Kutuny Leads Mourning After Death of Influential Kapyemit Elder
Former Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny has led tributes following the death of respected community elder Mzee Kipchonge of Kapyemit, describing him as a key figure in his political journey and a pillar of the Chepsiro community.
In an emotional message shared with residents, Kutuny recalled the unwavering support Mzee Kipchonge gave him at the beginning of his political career.
“He has been a pillar in my political journey since 2006. He believed in me when few did,” said Kutuny.
The former legislator noted that the passing of Mzee Kipchonge is a major loss not only to his family but also to the wider Kapyemit and Chepsiro communities, where the elder was widely respected for his wisdom, leadership, and dedication to community development.
“Kapyemit and the entire Chepsiro have lost a true son. Rest well, Mzee Kipchonge,” Kutuny stated.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and residents of Kapyemit, Kapsingilai, and Simatwet, urging them to remain united during the difficult period of mourning.
“My heart goes out to his family and to the people of Kapyemit, Kapsingilai, and Simatwet. Poleni sana,” he added.
Residents and local leaders have continued to send messages of sympathy, remembering Mzee Kipchonge as a respected elder whose influence touched many lives across the region.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
