Ruto Hails Monica Juma’s Distinguished Service as She Takes Up Senior UN Leadership Roles

 



President William Ruto today led the nation in bidding farewell to Ambassador Monica Juma, the outgoing National Security Advisor, commending her for what he described as a remarkable career defined by excellence, professionalism, and unwavering dedication to public service.


Speaking at State House Nairobi during an official farewell ceremony, President Ruto praised Ambassador Juma as one of Kenya’s most accomplished public servants, noting that her work has significantly strengthened the country’s security architecture, diplomatic engagements, and public administration systems.


“Ambassador Juma has served this nation with distinction. She is a highly respected professional whose depth of knowledge in security, diplomacy, and governance has been invaluable to our country,” President Ruto said. “Her ability to deliver results and navigate complex negotiations has made her a key figure in our national security leadership.”


The President highlighted her long-standing contribution to government, noting that she has held various senior roles in Kenya’s public service with consistency, discipline, and a strong commitment to national interest. He described her as a results-oriented leader whose work has helped shape Kenya’s regional and international engagements.


President Ruto also congratulated Ambassador Juma on her new appointment at the United Nations, where she will serve as Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna.


He said her elevation to these global roles is a testament to her capabilities and Kenya’s growing influence in international leadership spaces.


“This is a proud moment for our country. Ambassador Juma’s appointment at the United Nations is a recognition of her outstanding leadership and expertise. We are confident she will continue to excel and make a significant impact on the global stage,” he added.
