Kenya’s Rahab Mukami Wachira Elected PAP Women’s Caucus President as New Pan-African Parliament Bureau Takes Office.

 


Kenya’s Hon. Rahab Mukami Wachira has been elected President of the Women’s Caucus Bureau of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), in a leadership renewal aimed at strengthening women’s representation across Africa.

The elections were held at the Pan-African Parliament headquarters in Midrand, South Africa, during a session of the Seventh Legislature, under the principle of regional rotation.

Hon. Wachira will lead the Eastern Africa bloc in steering the Bureau’s agenda on gender inclusion and parliamentary leadership.

The Bureau is composed as follows:

President (Eastern Africa): Hon. Rahab Mukami Wachira (Kenya)

1st Vice President (Southern Africa): Hon. Aisha Adams (Malawi)

2nd Vice President (West Africa): Hon. Fatoumata Njai (The Gambia)

3rd Vice President (North Africa): Hon. Awatef Cheniti (Tunisia)

4th Vice President (Central Africa): Hon. Leocadie Ndacayizaba (Burundi)

The new leadership is expected to enhance women’s participation in governance and continental decision-making.
