Kacheliba MP Titus Lotee Champions Peace and Conservation at Cherangany Hills Event
Titus Lotee has reaffirmed his commitment to environmental conservation and peacebuilding through active participation in the Cherangany Hills Peace and Conservation Race and tree planting exercise held at Tebe Grounds.
The event, which attracted leaders, environmental advocates, and members of local communities, was presided over by Kipchumba Murkomen and attended by Ida Odinga alongside other distinguished leaders.
Held in the ecologically significant Cherangany Hills region, the initiative focused on promoting peaceful coexistence while advancing environmental restoration through large-scale tree planting activities aimed at protecting Kenya’s vital water towers.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Lotee emphasized the urgent need to safeguard the country’s forests and water catchment areas amid growing climate challenges. He described environmental conservation as a collective national duty essential for securing the wellbeing of current and future generations.
The Kacheliba legislator further called for similar peace and conservation initiatives to be extended to West Pokot County, particularly in areas experiencing harsh climatic conditions and environmental degradation. He noted that community-driven tree planting and ecological restoration programs could play a major role in strengthening climate resilience and improving livelihoods.
Hon. Lotee’s participation highlighted his growing advocacy for sustainable development, inter-county cooperation, and community-centered environmental action. His message resonated strongly with participants who hailed the initiative as a timely intervention in the fight against climate change and environmental destruction.
The Cherangany Hills Peace and Conservation Race concluded with renewed calls for collective responsibility in protecting Kenya’s natural ecosystems while fostering peace and unity among communities.
