Gachagua launches fresh political attack, vows 2027 “reset” of Kenya’s leadership

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his criticism of the current administration, accusing it of misleading Kenyans with “non-existent projects” and “empty promises.”

Speaking at a public gathering in Ng’araria Shopping Centre, Kandara Constituency, Murang’a County, Gachagua alleged that government officials had been promoting developments that he claimed lack clarity or tangible progress, including some he said were being referenced in neighboring countries.

“They have promised us projects that do not exist. They have sold us illusions and empty promises,” he said.

“Without an ounce of shame, they now boast of projects in neighboring countries—projects they themselves have no real knowledge or clarity about. Uongo umevuka border.”

Gachagua further argued that Kenyans had lost trust in leadership, saying citizens were now frustrated by what he described as incompetence and self-interest among those in power.

“Our greatest mistake was trusting them. They have shown they lack the competence to govern effectively,” he added.

He claimed residents of Ng’araria had expressed dissatisfaction with the current political direction, warning against what he termed “gambling with clueless leadership.”

Looking ahead, Gachagua pointed to the 2027 general election as a turning point, saying it would offer Kenyans an opportunity to “reset the course of the nation” and correct past governance failures.

“But on 10th August 2027, together with Kenyans of goodwill, we will reset the course of our nation and correct all the wrongs,” he said.

He closed his remarks by thanking residents for their reception during the visit, as he continues to position himself as a vocal critic of the current administration ahead of the next election cycle.
