Roads to Close Ahead of Eldoret City Marathon This Sunday

Traffic in Eldoret town is set to be significantly disrupted this Sunday as Eldoret City Marathon takes place, prompting authorities to announce temporary road closures across key routes.

The marathon will start at White Highlands Inn and finish at TAC Centre, with hundreds of participants expected to take part in the race.

Organizers have confirmed that several major roads will be closed from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon to allow for the smooth running of the event and to ensure the safety of runners. Among the roads affected are Uganda Road, Eldoret–Kapsabet Road, Eldoret–Iten Road, Eldoret–Kaptagat Road, Kiplombe Road, as well as service roads within Eldoret’s central business district.

Motorists have been advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes where possible, while traffic police will be deployed to guide road users and minimize disruptions.

Residents, especially those heading to church services on Sunday morning, are urged to factor in delays and adjust their travel schedules accordingly.

The Eldoret City Marathon continues to attract both elite and amateur runners, cementing the town’s reputation as a breeding ground for world-class athletes.
