Murkomen Backs Young Artistes as Music Emerges as Key Driver of Youth Empowerment
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has underscored the growing role of music in national development, describing it as a powerful tool for promoting peace, unity, and positive societal change.
Murkomen made the remarks after meeting rising artistes Erwin Kimwetich Toroitich, popularly known as Tsunamy Beiby, and Angela Kerebei, ahead of a music empowerment event set for Saturday in Kapcherop, Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
He noted that the creative industry, particularly music, has become a vital source of livelihood for many young people and holds immense potential to transform lives if properly supported.
“The government remains committed to supporting our young creatives to realise their dreams. Music is not only entertainment but also a key pillar in fostering cohesion and economic growth,” Murkomen said.
The CS commended the artistes for their dedication and encouraged them to stay disciplined and focused as they navigate their careers in the competitive entertainment industry.
He further advised them to adopt sound financial habits, urging them to invest their earnings wisely in order to build a secure and sustainable future.
The upcoming Kapcherop event is expected to attract local talent and industry stakeholders, offering a platform for emerging artistes to showcase their skills and expand their reach.
Murkomen reiterated the government’s resolve to empower youth through the arts, saying such initiatives are essential in building an inclusive and prosperous nation.
