Moiben, Uasin Gishu County — Residents from Toloita, Garage, Tachasis, Kap Gedion, Kabatu, Manyatta, and the wider Moiben Ward have expressed strong support for the near-complete Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) – Moiben Campus, following a successful public participation exercise held this week.
The engagement brought together community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to review progress and align expectations ahead of the institution’s official opening. The campus, now 98 percent complete, is set to receive its first cohort of students on May 11, marking a significant milestone in the constituency’s education and development agenda.
Speaking during the forum, Moiben Member of Parliament Prof. Phyllis Bartoo reaffirmed her commitment to expanding access to quality technical and vocational training. She emphasized that the institution will play a critical role in equipping young people with practical, market-driven skills necessary for employment and entrepreneurship.
“This project is a testament to what we can achieve through collective effort and a shared vision for empowering our youth,” she said. “The Kenya School of TVET – Moiben Campus will open new pathways for our young people, enabling them to actively participate in building a stronger local and national economy.”
The initiative is part of a broader national strategy to strengthen vocational education under the leadership of William Samoei Ruto. The President is expected to officially commission the campus in the coming weeks, signaling the government’s continued investment in skills development and inclusive growth.
Residents who attended the public participation exercise welcomed the project, noting that it will reduce the need for students to travel long distances in search of technical training opportunities. Many also highlighted the potential for the institution to stimulate local economic activity and create jobs.
As the countdown to the opening begins, leaders and community members alike have expressed optimism that the Kenya School of TVET – Moiben Campus will serve as a transformative hub for education, innovation, and opportunity in Moiben and beyond.
