KISE Strengthens Partnership with Kilimanjaro Blind Trust to Advance Inclusive Education
The Director General of the Kenya Institute of Special Education, Dr. Norman Kiogora, has reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to inclusive education following a high-level meeting with a delegation from the Kilimanjaro Blind Trust.
The delegation, led by Suparna Biswas, and accompanied by Jackson Ulira and William Gichia, paid a courtesy call to Dr. Kiogora’s office to explore opportunities for collaboration.
During the meeting, both parties held in-depth discussions on strengthening joint efforts in the design, production, repair, and maintenance of specialized teaching and learning materials. The talks also emphasized the development and provision of assistive devices aimed at improving access to education for individuals with disabilities and special needs.
Dr. Kiogora noted that partnerships of this nature are critical in bridging gaps within the special needs education sector. He highlighted the importance of innovation and shared expertise in ensuring that learners with disabilities receive appropriate support and resources.
The engagement marks a significant step toward enhancing inclusive education frameworks, with both institutions expressing optimism about the impact of their collaboration. The partnership is expected to drive meaningful change by improving the quality and availability of assistive technologies and tailored learning materials.
Stakeholders anticipate that the collaboration will not only strengthen institutional capacity but also contribute to more equitable educational opportunities for learners across the region.
