Gitaru Interchange Nears Completion as KeNHA Boss Praises Rapid Progress
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has expressed confidence in the timely completion of the Gitaru Interchange project, following an inspection by Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli.
During the site visit, Eng. Kimeli reviewed ongoing works, noting that construction at the interchange has reached 90 percent completion, with overall project progress now at 85 percent. Bitumen laying is currently underway, marking a key milestone in the project’s final phase.
Works are also continuing on complementary infrastructure, including the service road, Muhuri Interchange, Kamandura Interchange, and drainage systems across the project area.
The inspection focused on compliance with quality standards, adherence to timelines, and the implementation of safety measures. Eng. Kimeli commended the project team for the pace and quality of work, urging them to maintain the momentum to ensure the project is delivered within schedule.
He underscored the significance of the interchange, describing it as a critical intervention that will ease traffic congestion, improve mobility, and enhance connectivity along the busy Nairobi–Nakuru corridor.
Once complete, the Gitaru Interchange is expected to significantly improve traffic flow on one of Kenya’s most vital transport routes, supporting both local commuters and regional trade.
