Zetech University Launches Law School Focused on Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship

Zetech University has officially launched the Zetech Law School (ZLS) and its Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme, marking a major step in advancing innovative legal education in Kenya.

The launch ceremony was held at the university’s Technology Park Mang’u Campus in the Moot Court and brought together leaders from the judiciary, legal education sector and academia.

The event was presided over by Isaac Lenaola, a judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya and President of the Residual Special Court for Sierra Leone, who unveiled a commemorative plaque to mark the establishment of the law school.

Speaking during the ceremony, Justice Lenaola commended the university for introducing a forward-looking legal programme aligned with emerging global trends.

“The intersection of law, technology and entrepreneurship is where the future of legal practice lies,” he said. “Institutions that recognise this shift and prepare students accordingly will produce lawyers who are not only competent in the law but also innovative and ready to solve real-world challenges.”

In her remarks, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics, Research and Student Affairs Alice Njuguna said the law school is designed to deliver modern and responsive legal education by integrating technology and practical skills.

According to Prof. Njuguna, the curriculum incorporates competency-based education and AI-enhanced learning, while promoting collaboration between academia, industry and government to produce skilled, ethical and adaptable graduates.

The launch also brought together key stakeholders in legal education, including representatives from the Council of Legal Education (Kenya), Kenya School of Law, Law Society of Kenya, Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Kenya), Kituo cha Sheria, as well as deans and faculty from law schools across the country.

Chief Executive Officer of the Council of Legal Education Jack Mwimali noted that the university had undergone a comprehensive accreditation process before receiving approval to offer the programme.

The establishment of the law school positions Zetech University among institutions seeking to reshape legal training by combining traditional legal education with emerging technologies and entrepreneurial thinking.
