Water Supply to Be Interrupted in Several Eldoret Areas for Routine Maintenance
Residents of several neighborhoods in Eldoret and its surrounding areas will experience a temporary interruption of water supply beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2026, according to a public notice issued by Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS).
In the notice dated March 10, ELDOWAS Managing Director CPA Dr. Lawrence Tanui said the shutdown is necessary to facilitate routine maintenance at the Chebara Water Treatment Plant, one of the key facilities supplying water to the region.
The interruption will start at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, and is expected to last until 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Areas expected to be affected include Kimumu, the University of Eldoret and nearby neighborhoods, as well as Marakwet Farm, Kapchumba, and the upper parts of Maili Nne. Other locations listed in the notice include Munyaka, Kapsoya, Action Estates, Rift Valley Bottlers, Bio-Corn, Upper Elgon View, Eldoret Polytechnic Annex, Langas, Racecourse, and Kapseret.
Residents in Chepanga, Marura, Kamukunji, Mwanzo, and areas along Old Uganda Road will also be affected, alongside all customers served along the Chebara–Eldoret pipeline.
During the three-day period, ELDOWAS also warned that water bowser services will be unavailable. However, the company noted that other water treatment plants will remain operational to maintain supply to areas not affected by the maintenance works.
The utility company apologized for the inconvenience caused and asked residents to make adequate water storage arrangements in advance.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” the notice stated.
