TENANT IN DISTRESS AS LANDLORD ALLEGEDLY LOCKS HER OUT AFTER SEWAGE FLOODING

A tenant in Kahawa West has cried out for help after her landlord allegedly removed the main gate and locked her out of her rental house following a sewage overflow that destroyed her household property.

Jane Nyagichuhi, the affected tenant, claims that her house was overwhelmed by sewage water due to a drainage blockage in the area, leading to extensive damage to her belongings including furniture, bedding, and personal effects.

Speaking to the press, Nyagichuhi said the situation worsened when her landlord reportedly took drastic action instead of addressing the sanitation issue.

“I lost almost everything after the sewage flooded my house. Instead of helping me or fixing the problem, my landlord removed the gate and locked the door, leaving me stranded with nowhere to go,” she lamented.

Neighbors who witnessed the incident expressed concern over the rising cases of landlord-tenant disputes in the area, urging authorities to intervene and ensure justice is served.

Local residents have also pointed out the persistent sewage problems in Kahawa West, calling on county officials to urgently address the failing drainage system to prevent further suffering.

Efforts to reach the landlord for comment were unsuccessful by the time of publication.

Nyagichuhi is now appealing to the government, well-wishers, and relevant authorities to assist her in accessing her house, recovering her belongings, and seeking compensation for the damages incurred.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
