Dr. Isaac Andabwa Urges Lugari Residents to Register as IEBC Rolls Out Voter Exercise

Aspiring Lugari Member of Parliament Dr. Isaac Andabwa has called on residents of Lugari Constituency to seize the opportunity presented by the ongoing voter registration and transfer exercise being conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

In a statement issued today, Dr. Andabwa emphasized the importance of civic participation, urging eligible voters to register, transfer their voting stations to Lugari, and verify their personal details under the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) programme.

“Today marks a defining moment for our democracy,” said Dr. Andabwa. “Every eligible citizen must take responsibility by ensuring they are registered and ready to vote. The future of Lugari lies in the hands of its people.”

The IEBC recently launched the nationwide ECVR exercise aimed at increasing voter registration ahead of the 2027 General Election. The initiative also allows voters to transfer their registration details to constituencies where they currently reside, ensuring more accurate representation and participation.

Dr. Andabwa highlighted that Lugari Constituency stands at a critical juncture in its development journey, noting that inclusive participation in the electoral process is key to unlocking its full potential.

“We cannot talk about development without participation,” he stated. “When people register and vote, they are not just fulfilling a civic duty—they are actively shaping leadership, policies, and the future direction of their constituency.”

He particularly encouraged young people who have recently attained the age of 18 to register in large numbers, describing them as a vital force in determining the future of the constituency and the country at large.

“Young people must rise and take their rightful place in governance. This is your chance to be counted, to be heard, and to influence the leadership that will serve you,” he added.

Dr. Andabwa also urged residents who may have relocated to Lugari to take advantage of the voter transfer window, ensuring their votes are cast where they live and work. He stressed that proper voter registration enhances accountability and strengthens democratic representation.

The IEBC has assured Kenyans that the registration process is accessible, transparent, and secure, with registration centres established across the country. Citizens are encouraged to visit designated centres with valid identification documents to complete the process.

Observers note that early mobilization efforts by leaders such as Dr. Andabwa signal growing political engagement ahead of the 2027 elections. Analysts argue that such initiatives are essential in improving voter turnout and fostering a culture of active citizenship.

Dr. Andabwa concluded his appeal with a call for unity and collective responsibility among the people of Lugari.

“Let us come together as one people with a shared vision. By participating in this exercise, we are laying the foundation for a stronger, more prosperous Lugari. Together, we can build the future we desire,” he said.

The voter registration and transfer exercise is expected to run for several weeks, with the IEBC encouraging continuous participation throughout the period.

As the country prepares for the next electoral cycle, stakeholders continue to emphasize that voter registration remains the cornerstone of democratic governance, making this exercise one of the most critical civic engagements for citizens nationwide.
