Kigame Lauds Academic Excellence at Nakuru School, Reaffirms 2027 Presidential Bid
Presidential aspirant Reuben Kigame on Sunday joined the Sun and Shield School community in Nakuru County as Chief Guest during their Thanksgiving service, where he celebrated the institution’s academic achievements and shared his personal journey of resilience and faith.
Dr. Kigame applauded the school for its outstanding performance in the recent Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) examinations, noting its consistent record of strong results over the years. He commended teachers, parents and students for their dedication, discipline and teamwork, saying sustained success in education requires collective effort.
Speaking to the congregation, Dr. Kigame reflected on how he discovered his musical talent and how it has shaped his life and leadership. He recounted his early education in Kibos before joining Thika School for the Blind, experiences he said helped nurture his determination despite living with visual impairment.
He later pursued higher education at Kenyatta University for his undergraduate studies and obtained a Master’s degree from Moi University. He furthered his studies in the United States at Southern Evangelical Seminary, earning a Master of Arts in Apologetics, and later attained a PhD from Africa International University.
Encouraging students not to be limited by challenges, Dr. Kigame said determination, faith and hard work can open doors. He noted that beyond being a musician, he is also a prolific writer, urging learners to actively pursue their talents and trust God for success.
On values and leadership, he emphasized the need for strong moral foundations in raising responsible children and building a just society, calling on parents and educators to remain intentional in mentoring the younger generation.
Dr. Kigame also used the occasion to reaffirm his presidential ambitions, stating that he will be on the ballot in 2027. Among his key agenda items, he said, is reforming Kenya’s education sector to address corruption and eliminate unnecessary costs that burden families and strain the system.
The Thanksgiving celebration brought together students, teachers and parents in a day marked by prayer, reflection and recognition of academic excellence.
