Sudi Forgives Critics After Public Apology in Kapseret
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi on Tuesday publicly reconciled with Ken Maswai and Edward Tum Chebweikei after the two paid him a visit and apologized following months of political insults and public exchanges.
Speaking at Tuiyo area in Kapseret Constituency, Sudi described the encounter as a “Damascus moment,” saying it marked a turning point from confrontation to reconciliation.
The three leaders met before local residents, where they buried the hatchet and embraced, signaling an end to the dispute that had played out in public for several months. Sudi said he accepted the apology in the spirit of unity and national cohesion.
“I chose forgiveness because the country needs peace and leaders who can rise above personal differences for the sake of the people,” Sudi said.
He noted that political disagreements are inevitable but should not be allowed to divide communities or derail development. According to the MP, the reconciliation demonstrated that dialogue and humility remain essential in resolving conflicts.
Sudi emphasized that Kapseret residents expect leaders to focus on development priorities rather than prolonged political feuds. He added that forgiveness was a deliberate decision aimed at fostering harmony and enabling leaders to work together for the benefit of the constituency and the country.
Ken Maswai and Edward Tum Chebweikei acknowledged their differences with the MP and expressed regret over the remarks they had previously made, saying it was time to move forward.
The reconciliation was welcomed by local leaders and residents, who said the move would help restore calm and set an example of peaceful conflict resolution.
Sudi concluded by calling on leaders across the country to embrace dialogue and reconciliation, noting that unity remains critical to Kenya’s political stability and development.
