Senior Traffic Police Officers Give Back to Visually Impaired Students in Thika

In a heartwarming act of community support, senior traffic police officers visited Thika Comprehensive School for the Visually Impaired to donate foodstuffs and toiletries, bringing cheer to the school’s learners.

The delegation was led by Deputy Commandant of Traffic, Mr. Kipkemoi Kirui, CP, and included Ms. Beatrice Kiraguri, CP, and Mr. Joseph Chirchir, CP, among other senior officers. The visit was part of the National Police Service’s ongoing efforts to engage with and give back to the community beyond their law enforcement duties.

Thika Comprehensive School serves 424 learners from Kenya and the wider East African region, offering both age-based and stage-based programmes alongside specialised training in Braille literacy and information and communication technology (ICT).

Head Teacher Mrs. Penina Mutuku lauded the officers’ gesture, saying the donation not only provided essential support but also greatly motivated the learners. “Their visit reinforces the National Police Service’s commitment to uplifting communities and supporting vulnerable groups,” she remarked.

The initiative reflects a growing trend among public service institutions in Kenya to actively participate in community outreach, emphasizing compassion and social responsibility alongside their core roles.
