Ruto Assures Kerio Valley Residents of Improved Security
President William Ruto on Sunday acknowledged the long-standing insecurity faced by communities in the Kerio Valley, saying the region has endured years of hardship but has made notable progress.
“For a long time, the people of Kerio Valley have suffered insecurity. We thank God for how far He has brought us,” the President said.
Ruto was speaking during an interdenominational church service held in Chesombur, Sigor Sub-County, West Pokot County, where he joined worshippers and local leaders for prayers and reflection.
The President said the government remains committed to restoring lasting peace and stability in the region, which has for years been affected by banditry and inter-communal conflict. He noted that recent efforts by security agencies, in collaboration with local leaders and residents, have begun to yield positive results.
Ruto urged residents to support peace initiatives and cooperate with authorities to ensure sustainable security and development. He emphasized that peace is essential for economic growth and improved livelihoods, particularly in pastoral areas.
Local leaders who attended the service welcomed the President’s remarks, saying communities in Kerio Valley are hopeful that continued government intervention will bring an end to insecurity and open the door to development.
The church service brought together clergy from different denominations, government officials, and residents from across the sub-county, highlighting the role of faith and unity in promoting peace.
