New Year, New Beginnings: Dr. Reuben Kigame Marks a Major Transition in a Lifetime of Service
As the new year begins, presidential aspirant Dr. Reuben Kigame has announced a significant personal and professional transition, bringing to a close a 21-year chapter of service in Uasin Gishu County and opening a new phase of community engagement in Bunyore, Vihiga County.
In a reflective New Year message, Dr. Kigame described his departure from Uasin Gishu as emotional yet hopeful, noting that the county has been central to his growth as a leader, mentor, and servant of the people.
“For 21 years, Uasin Gishu has been more than a home—it has been a mission field,” he said. “I am deeply grateful for the people, the partnerships, and the shared vision that allowed us to touch lives in many different ways.”
During his time in Uasin Gishu, Dr. Kigame was involved in a wide range of initiatives that cut across media, youth empowerment, sports, faith-based work, peacebuilding, entrepreneurship, and politics. Through radio, he used his voice to educate, inspire, and unite communities. He played a key role in training young people in music, media, and communication, equipping them with skills for both creative expression and employment.
A passionate advocate for mentorship, Dr. Kigame invested heavily in guiding the boy child, strengthening families, and nurturing values-based leadership. His involvement in Fish United Football Club and The Children’s Young Fishers Club provided platforms for discipline, talent development, and community cohesion through sports.
Beyond youth-focused initiatives, Dr. Kigame also engaged in Christian ministry and preaching, family mentorship, and small-scale farming, demonstrating a holistic approach to community development. He was particularly active in peace and reconciliation efforts, especially during periods of post-election violence, where he worked alongside local leaders to promote dialogue, healing, and unity.
His entrepreneurial ventures, including the running of restaurants, further reflected his belief in dignity through work and economic empowerment. Alongside these efforts, he maintained a consistent presence in political engagement, advocating for ethical leadership and people-centered governance.
As he turns the page, Dr. Kigame says the move to Bunyore, Vihiga County, represents a continuation—not a departure—from his lifelong mission of service.
“Bunyore is the next chapter of my life,” he noted. “It is a place of promise, rich culture, and enormous potential, especially among the youth.”
In Vihiga County, Dr. Kigame plans to focus on youth empowerment and talent development, expanding opportunities in sports, music, and creative arts. He also intends to prioritize support for widows and orphans, address the growing challenge of substance abuse, and contribute to the improvement of literacy levels within the community.
Faith will remain central to his work, with renewed emphasis on Christian teaching and values-based mentorship, alongside continued involvement in public affairs and political leadership.
Observers note that the transition aligns with Dr. Kigame’s broader national vision—one that emphasizes social justice, moral leadership, and inclusive development as Kenya looks toward the future.
As the country ushers in a new year, Dr. Kigame’s message resonates with the theme of renewal and purpose.
“New years remind us that change is not something to fear,” he said. “It is an opportunity to serve better, love deeper, and dream bigger.”
He concluded by wishing Kenyans a Happy New Year, calling on citizens to embrace new beginnings with hope, unity, and a shared commitment to building a better nation.
