Mandago Takes Aim at Bii Over Stalled Tiret Hospital

Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has launched a sharp attack on Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim over the prolonged delay in completing the Tiret Level 4 Hospital, a project he says was initiated during his tenure as county boss.

Speaking to residents, Mandago accused the current county administration of diverting funds originally allocated for the completion of the facility to other projects, leaving the hospital incomplete and denying locals access to essential health services.

“The Tiret Level 4 Hospital was meant to ease pressure on referral facilities and bring quality healthcare closer to the people,” Mandago said. “It is unfortunate that years later, the project remains stalled despite funds having been set aside for its completion.”

The senator maintained that the hospital was a priority project under his administration and questioned why the county government had failed to finalize it. He demanded accountability from Governor Bii’s administration, insisting that public funds must be used for their intended purposes.

Mandago called on the county leadership to fast-track the completion of the facility, arguing that residents of the area continue to suffer due to long distances to access medical services. He further urged oversight agencies to scrutinize the use of health sector funds in the county.

“The people of Tiret deserve answers and action, not excuses,” he added. “This hospital must be completed and equipped so that it can serve the community as intended.”

Governor Bii’s administration has yet to formally respond to the accusations. However, the stalled project has increasingly become a political flashpoint in Uasin Gishu, with leaders trading blame as residents push for the delivery of long-promised services.

The Tiret Level 4 Hospital was envisioned as a key healthcare facility to serve the growing population in the area and reduce congestion at major hospitals within the county.
