Deputy President Meets North Rift Leaders to Set 2026 Agenda
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Thursday morning held talks with Members of Parliament and other elected leaders from the North Rift region to review the past year and outline development priorities for 2026.
The leaders had attended the State Dinner and the 2025/2026 Crossover Concert in Eldoret City on Wednesday night to usher in the New Year.
During the meeting, the Deputy President and the leaders reflected on the challenges and achievements recorded in 2025, with a focus on economic recovery, security, service delivery, and regional development. They also discussed strategies to accelerate growth and improve livelihoods in the North Rift.
Prof. Kindiki said the region remains central to Kenya’s economic performance, citing its role in agriculture, education, trade, and sports. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting farmers, strengthening infrastructure, expanding healthcare services, and creating jobs, particularly for the youth.
The leaders agreed that priorities for 2026 would include boosting food security, improving road and energy infrastructure, enhancing access to affordable healthcare, and deepening collaboration between national and county governments.
The Deputy President emphasized the importance of unity and regular consultation among elected leaders to ensure effective implementation of development programmes.
He expressed optimism that 2026 would be a year of progress and consolidation, calling on leaders to remain focused on service delivery and the needs of residents across the North Rift region.
