CS Murkomen Holds Strategic Meeting with Immigration Officials to Strengthen Service Delivery
The Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, today held a high-level strategic meeting with PS Dr. Belio Kipsang and Heads of Directorates from the State Department of Immigration and Citizen Services to review departmental achievements and outline priorities for 2026.
The meeting focused on enhancing operational efficiency, ensuring effective delivery of core programs, and addressing challenges that could hinder service provision. CS Murkomen emphasized his commitment to a modern, efficient, and citizen-focused department, urging Directorate Heads to openly raise any issues affecting their operations.
During the meeting, Dr. Belio Kipsang updated the Cabinet Secretary on the acquisition of 91 live capture machines, which will significantly boost ongoing mobile registration efforts, especially in the 15 disadvantaged counties. Plans to improve operational mobility through the procurement of additional vehicles were also discussed.
The Principal Secretary also highlighted the success of the Jukwa La Usalama exercise, noting that it provided valuable insights into the specific challenges faced by different counties. The initiative enabled targeted outreach and the expansion of registration services nationwide, improving access to citizen services.
CS Murkomen urged all department heads to remain proactive, identify operational bottlenecks early, and implement solutions that would enhance service delivery, transparency, and accountability across all directorates.
“The State Department of Immigration and Citizen Services must continue to innovate, plan effectively, and work as a team to ensure timely and reliable services to all Kenyans,” CS Murkomen said.
The meeting underscores the government’s renewed focus on modernizing immigration services, leveraging technology, and improving accessibility, particularly for residents in underserved areas, as part of efforts to strengthen citizen-centered service delivery.
