Bondeni Streetlights Vandalized: MCA Bishop Patrick Kimeli Condemns Act, Calls for Mature Politics
Residents of Bondeni woke up to a disturbing act of vandalism after approximately 200 metres of electrical wiring was cut and stolen from newly installed streetlights. The incident has disrupted public lighting in the area, raising serious security and safety concerns for residents.
Confirming the incident, Moisbridge Ward MCA Bishop Patrick Kimeli strongly condemned the act, terming it irresponsible and cowardly.
“Let me warn those who send goons to vandalize public infrastructure, especially streetlights. What happened in Bondeni is unacceptable. About 200 metres of wire was deliberately cut and stolen,” said Bishop Kimeli.
The MCA emphasized that public amenities are installed to benefit all residents, regardless of political affiliation, and should never be targeted for political reasons.
“Let us play mature politics. Hizi za kuharibu mali ya umma ni kazi za cowards. Damaging public property only hurts our people—it does not score any political points,” he added.
Streetlights play a critical role in enhancing security, supporting businesses, and improving the quality of life for residents. Their destruction exposes the community to crime and undermines development efforts funded by taxpayers.
Bishop Kimeli called on security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity involving public infrastructure.
“Development is not about individuals or politics; it is about the people. We must protect what belongs to us as a community,” he concluded.
Authorities are expected to assess the damage and begin repairs as investigations continue.
