Rebecca Miano Engages Nyandarua Residents, Promotes Government Partnership and Grassroots Empowerment

Residents of Nyandarua County were treated to a moment of celebration and engagement after Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano hosted thousands of locals at her home in a warm and inclusive gathering aimed at fostering dialogue, unity, and a shared sense of purpose.

The well-attended event brought together community members from across the county, offering them an opportunity to interact directly with the Cabinet Secretary as she outlined the importance of collaboration between citizens and the government. Miano used the platform to highlight the benefits of supporting the current administration, emphasizing development projects and social reforms already underway.

“I urge all of you to work closely with the government. There is so much we stand to gain from cooperation,” she said. “We have a social health insurance system that is working, our roads are progressing well, and even more development is planned in the coming years.”

Beyond dialogue, the event also underscored practical community empowerment. Through the Rebecca Miano Foundation, the CS handed over a 100-seater tent and chairs to the Gakanga Wendi Mwega Self-Help Group, a community organization comprising 150 members. The donation is expected to significantly enhance the group’s capacity to organize meetings, mobilize members, and carry out welfare activities.

By eliminating the need to rent tents and chairs for events, the group can now redirect those funds toward savings initiatives and direct support for its members, strengthening financial resilience and mutual aid within the community.

“We are empowering community groups with practical tools that enable them to lead with dignity and achieve sustainable impact,” Miano said.

The gathering was widely praised by residents as both meaningful and timely, reflecting a blend of political engagement and grassroots support. For many in attendance, the event symbolized renewed hope, unity, and a shared commitment to development in Nyandarua County.
