PS Mwangi, Omollo Ranked Top Performers in 2025 Government Evaluation
Sports Principal Secretary Elijah Mwangi and his Interior and National Administration counterpart Raymond Omollo have been ranked the best-performing Principal Secretaries in the 2025 Performance Evaluation, according to new polls released on Friday by Politrack Africa.
The two PSs tied at the top with an impressive score of 69.7 percent, emerging as the standout performers among all 51 Principal Secretaries assessed across government ministries. The evaluation employed a comprehensive methodology that measured project implementation, digital transformation, financial discipline, stakeholder engagement, and public accountability.
Politrack Africa noted that both Mwangi and Omollo demonstrated exceptional leadership in delivering high-impact national programmes and consistently meeting performance contracting targets. Their ministries also recorded significant progress in digitisation, one of the key pillars of the latest evaluation model.
PS Mwangi’s strong showing reinforced what analysts described as a growing trend of Mt Kenya region Principal Secretaries taking leading positions in government performance rankings. His leadership at the Ministry of Sports has been marked by accelerated development of sports infrastructure, including the construction of new stadiums and the modernisation of existing facilities across the country.
Under his stewardship, the Sports Ministry has overseen major upgrades aimed at boosting talent development, expanding hosting capacity for regional and international events, and improving access to sports opportunities nationwide.
The 2025 rankings are expected to influence ongoing discussions on public service reforms, with a focus on accountability, results-based management, and enhanced delivery of government projects.
