NGAAF Empowers Communities in Cianda Ward with Livelihood Support
Kiambu County, Kenya – Residents of Cianda Ward, Kiambaa Constituency received a boost to their livelihoods today as the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF), under the leadership of Kiambu County Woman Representative Hon. Ann Muratha, launched a major empowerment initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots economic activities.
The programme saw several local groups benefit through empowerment cheques. Notable beneficiaries included Cekingu Investments Self Help Group, Podlins Fashion Design & Tailoring, and the Social Workers Kiambaa Sub-County Group. In addition, the Kawaida Mama Mboga Welfare Group and the Kawaida Men Residence Welfare Association were each provided with two tents and 100 chairs to support community gatherings and social functions.
To further boost income-generating activities and social welfare, a variety of tools and equipment were distributed, including car wash machines, hair dryers, shaving machines, UV machines, market and motorbike umbrellas, chips fryers, helmets for boda boda riders, white canes for the visually impaired, and blankets for the elderly.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Muratha highlighted the importance of targeted grassroots interventions that restore dignity, create opportunities, and stimulate local economic growth. She reiterated that NGAAF continues to play a critical role in supporting women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups across Kiambu County.
The initiative reflects Hon. Muratha’s commitment to people-focused leadership and her ongoing efforts to ensure that public resources have a tangible impact on communities at the grassroots level.
