Leah Sankaire Delivers on Water Promise as Olng’arua Borehole Project Begins

Kajiado County Woman Representative Hon. Leah Sankaire has taken a significant step toward addressing chronic water shortages in Kajiado West following the official commencement of the drilling and equipping of the Olng’arua Primary School borehole.

The project, which kicked off today, fulfills a long-standing commitment to the Olng’arua community and marks a major milestone in improving access to clean and reliable water for students, teachers, nearby households, and livestock.

For years, water scarcity has disrupted learning at Olng’arua Primary School, forcing pupils and staff to endure difficult conditions that affected attendance, hygiene, and overall academic performance. Once completed, the borehole is expected to transform the school environment by ensuring a steady water supply, improving sanitation, and creating a more conducive learning atmosphere.

Beyond the school, the project will benefit the wider community by supporting domestic use and livestock, a critical lifeline in this arid and semi-arid part of Kajiado County where water remains a persistent challenge.

Speaking through her office, Hon. Sankaire reiterated her commitment to people-centered development, emphasizing that leadership must translate into tangible change. Her agenda, she noted, remains anchored on strengthening service delivery, promoting accountability, and restoring hope in underserved communities.

“This project is about dignity, opportunity, and impact,” her office said, noting that access to water is not only a basic necessity but also a foundation for education, health, and sustainable livelihoods.

Residents and school administrators welcomed the development, terming it a long-awaited intervention that will ease daily hardships and secure the future of learners at Olng’arua Primary School.

With drilling now underway, the completion of the borehole is set to turn what was once a symbol of scarcity into a lasting legacy of development—ensuring that water challenges at Olng’arua Primary School soon become a thing of the past.
