Kuvasila Takes Narrow Lead in Mwingi West Parliamentary Race, Survey Shows

Former County Executive Committee Member Patrick Musau Kuvasila has taken a slight lead in the race for the Mwingi West parliamentary seat ahead of the 2027 General Election, according to the latest opinion survey.

The survey places Kuvasila at 39 per cent popularity, narrowly ahead of incumbent Member of Parliament Charles Nguna, who stands at 37 per cent. The findings point to a closely contested race as political activity begins to intensify in the constituency.

Analysts attribute Kuvasila’s rising support to his leadership record during his tenure as a County Executive Committee Member, where he earned recognition for implementing community-focused development initiatives and maintaining close engagement with residents. Supporters describe his leadership style as accessible and responsive, qualities that appear to be resonating with voters at the grassroots.

Political observers note that Kuvasila’s consistent presence in the constituency and his involvement in local development discussions have helped solidify his standing, positioning him as a strong alternative to the incumbent.

While the margin between the two leading contenders remains slim, the survey suggests shifting political dynamics in Mwingi West, with voter preferences still fluid more than a year ahead of the polls.

As the 2027 General Election approaches, both camps are expected to intensify their campaigns, with observers predicting a competitive contest that could hinge on turnout, coalition-building, and issue-based campaigning.
