KEBS Bags Prestigious National Inclusion Award.
The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has been honored with the Inclusive Employment and Workplace Practices Award 2025 at the National Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion Awards. The ceremony, held on December 18, 2025, in Nairobi, recognized KEBS for its outstanding commitment to fostering an equitable, diverse, and accessible work environment.
The award, presented by the Gender & Disability Development Centre (GDDC Kenya) in collaboration with national inclusion partners, highlights KEBS’s initiative-taking journey in dismantling barriers to employment for persons with disabilities (PWDs) and promoting gender parity across all levels of management.
With this award, the organization demonstrates that it is not only the custodian of quality for Kenyan products and services but a leader in ensuring that its own organizational culture reflects the highest standards of social ethics, constitutional mandates, and human rights.
The "Inclusive Employment and Workplace Practices Award" specifically recognizes several key initiatives implemented by the Bureau which include Equal Opportunity Recruitment, Reasonable Accommodation and Accessibility, Gender Equity in Leadership and Sensitization and Cultural Shift.
"Receiving the Inclusive Employment and Workplace Practices Award is not just a win for the Bureau; it is a win for the Kenyan people," said Esther Ngari, KEBS Managing director. "As we standardize products, we must also standardize the way we treat our greatest asset, our people.
This award validates our efforts to create a workplace where merit is the only metric, and where diversity is seen as a driver of innovation rather than a challenge to be managed. “By bringing together diverse perspectives, KEBS is better equipped to develop standards that serve all segments of the population, including vulnerable groups and people with disabilities.
The National Gender Equality and Disability Inclusion Awards 2025 was attended by key stakeholders from the government, private sector, and civil society.
The Bureau remains committed to continuous improvement, with plans to further expand its disability inclusion programs and enhance its partnership with the Gender & Disability Development Centre.
The awards are organized to recognize and celebrate organizations and individuals who have demonstrated exemplary commitment to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of persons with disabilities in Kenya. The 2025 gala themed "Inclusion 2025" celebrated pioneers who are making the Kenyan workplace a space for everyone.
